New Version of Brack Calc (Win/Mac freeware)

Post by nmonks »

This is a little toy I've been playing with in REALbasic for a while. I finally found a formula for getting salinity from specific gravity AND temperature. So by moving sliders for the two things we can measure, you can calculate precisely what the salinity of your aquarium is. It works from SG 1 to SG 1.040, and 10 degrees C to 35 degrees C.

This is a work in progress, so let me know if it doesn't work or you get weird, obviously wrong results. I don't have a PC, so the Windows version is essentially untested, so I'm especially keen to hear if Windows users have problems. Linux versions are possible, if there's the demand for them.

Cheers,

Neale

Works great in Windows. Thanks Neale. Useful to demonstrate quickly how changing temp while keeping SG constant affects salinity.

Cool! Except I couldn't exit? Had to do it through task manager.

Kass -- I don't know what "task manager" is. Surely, there's a Quit option under File?

ChesapeakeSwellfish -- Thanks! Yes, that was sort of the idea. I was discussing with someone else how SG is different with a coldwater marine tank. Hence my need for this application.

Cheers, Neale

Kass - did you try the quit option in file - upper left in window ? I suspect you looked for the active X (close) to right of the minimize symbol in upper right, but you have to go to file & quit.

Thanks for the app! Awesome work, although I had to do the Fahrenheit to Celsius conversion with one of my widgets.

Also nice to see another Mac person around here ;)
