Hi! I've recently bought two puffer fishes and I'm confused as to the species name. I've searched through the gallery here and the only match was the tetraodon nigroviridis. In fact they looks exactly like this fish. There's only one problem this is a brackish or marine water fish . The two i bought are freshwater. Is it possible there is a freshwater tetraodon nigroviridis or something like it?
No, it's much more likely you were given bad information. Most stores know nothing about puffers and will sell brackish/marine puffers, such as the GSP, as a freshwater fish.
