Tetraodon baileyi, Hairy Puffer

Cichlid Forever. I am not going to buy, was just wondering if the price is fair. They are quite healthy except for a few little dots on their fins which I suspect is ich. Very cute. My husband will not let me buy 'cos I already have 3 ceylon puffers and a fahaka.

Are they hairy? And ich is disgusting. I won't buy already. Because I don't want the one I have to get ich as well. It is a hassle to treat them.

Ich is really easy to treat, and yes it is discusting :barf:

Basically the idea is to raise the water temp to 86f and to add salt to the water to kill the patogens.

Being in Singapore, our temperature is at 86f very much of the time. It drops to about 84f at night. So I don't really need to raise the temperature. LOL.

And the troublesome thing is you got to make sure they won't appear again for the next 7 days or so. As their cryst (or whatever you call it) is still in the water.

Well, I am guessing it is ich. Just one white tiny grain on the left fin for the more active puffer. It has more hair too. I spent a long time staring at it, hoping to find a reason not to buy it. And got the reason...from my husband.

I'm sure what he said was that "you cannot have another puffer". I'm sure he'd be pleasantly surprised if you bought one for *him* though.

Does anyone knows of 2 of these guys can live together in peace?

I mean I know they all will have different temperament, but I just want something of a general assurance and check if anyone has tried that out before.

And will these puffers be able to take down a small crayfish when fully grown?

We have no data on long-term captivity of these critters. They are too new to the hobby.

The first thing my specimen did was to kill and eat a well sized Ancistrus (L052).
That would make small crayfish peanuts.

The maximum size quoted in litterature is 4,7", but the lady at The Puffer Lair states that she has seen stuffed specimens reaching a good 11" at the Steinhardt Collection.

Time will give us further information.
