GSP Not eating snails

Post by raliugaluis »

hi, I'm having problems getting my GSP to eat snails, I think he got used to the food that I normally give him which is usually frozen fish, frozen shrimp, wheat worms and acasionally live brine shrimp, the thing is that I tried to give him small snails and he just stares at them but doesn't eat them, what can I do? He's about 1" and i've had him for about 2 months

How small are the snails compared to him? Mine will only eat them if they are a certain size but not too big. Most of my puffers are like that. Too small and the snail is below their notice, too big and they'll ignore it for awhile.

You can try crushing one and giving it to him. He might understand better that it's food. If you leave some snails in the tank, he might eat some when he's "hunting" and you're not around.
