New to puffer need advice

Hello, I have a 42 gallon hex tank, and I was wanting to set up a puffer tank, I was just wondering if anyone could give me suggestions on what species would be good to start with for this tank? I like arrowheads but I'm not sure if they would do good in this style tank, also are they as hard to care for as I have heard? I have experience with freshwater community fish and cichlids so I'm not completely ignorant. Any help would be very nice.

Do you want to stay purely freshwater or would you go brackish?

I just looking for ideas, I would kinda like to stay with freshwater variety's but it isn't essential. I wouldn't have any trouble setting up either. Also I don't really want tiny little puffer's either. I would like a larger size one not huge or anything but the biggest one I could fit in that tank comfortably.

If you dont want small then t. palambangensis springs to mind, they're FW, mimimum tank size is 40g (us) and they can get to around 8".

I would not put a palembang puffer in a ~40 gallon hex - too little footprint. Those fish are substrate associated, they need floor space not height.

Didn't think about the footprint. That's the Palembang out then.
