What are the effects?

I understand your point but i don't see another stores in my area with good puffers, by good i mean healty and active. I think that if we want something done about it then a letter should be written directly to the owner with those points and actions from us if they continue to sell these fish. They no that puffers make them more money so if enough people that live around here and buy puffer sighned it maybe they would stop selling them. I just refuse to boycott them completly when i see how clean there takes are and how happy there fish are and then go to another store and see sick and even dead fish in there tanks.

Relying on market forces to force a change in a small scale economy is tricky. Directly telling them and interacting with management, and encouraging others to do the same has a better chance of actually achieving something than just boycotting.

I'm not disagreeing with you Boxermom, and commend you for being vocal about the issue. I'm just saying I'd rely on more than just taking my business elsewhere, and the fact they do treat their other fish well hopefully shows they aren't beyond hope.

They should at least be given the opportunity to meet the request of the customer before the are given a bad name. If they refuse to meet the requst to stop selling these fish then i will find a new place to find puffers.

Trust me, I'm not the least bit shy about voicing my displeasure to them directly, which I did. But then I also back it up by not giving them any money - not for a puffer, not for a heater, not for a plant, not for anything. And by spreading the word that Living Art Aquarium in the Madison area perpetuates the mutilation of living creatures by purchasing them and selling them.

Justin, I'm just curious but how many puffers have you bought from them that you still have? You seem to acquire an awful lot of them. How long on average do you keep them before you sell them to someone else and get another one?

I currently have 2 GSp's and a ceylon. I did buy alot of puffers right away and have sold most of them to good homes and as far as i know they are all alive. I got very carried away at first as i quickly feel in love with them. I got five puffers from them. One from anaimart which died the next day. i havn't had to treat any of the puffer i have gotten from them. I got a large GSP for my girlfreind from another store which died quickly as well.
