Nail biting

Well my newest GSP (I have had him for two days now) has already taken to me and is eating from my hand. Upon finishing his bloodworms I left my hand in the tank and he began to bite at my nails...could this be a substitute for there being no snails...do puffers naturally like to bite things that are semi hard...well he managed to almost get an entire nail off before I got a cramp in my wrist.

I dont think I'd advise that...your nails could have some pretty nasty stuff underneath them that could harm the fishy...

That's unless you wash your hands before each feeding (like I do...I dont have anything other than my hands to feed mine right now)

I wash them before I put them in the tank every time.

I'd be more scared of losing more than the tip of my nail.

My GSP will bite anything that is associated with food. Tweezers, turkey baster, tongs, my fingers. I don't think it will have the same effect as snails though, because they have to really work on cracking them open and crushing the shell to seperate it from the meat. I don't think there is any good substitute for snails, only supplements.

Yea, still no luck w/ ramshorns...only mystery snails sold here.
