Finally got a GSP
Well, it's been a long go but I finally got a GSP today. Had to travel down to Nanaimo, an hour away, to find one, because the local Petland LOST the one we had prepurchased. First time I've ever fishless cycled a tank, it took about 3 weeks from putting in used filter media to having zero Ammonia and Nitrites. Did a big water change this morning and brought Nitrates down to 5ppm. "Bubbles", as my daughter called him, was the last GSP in the tank. Looks rather healthy to me, good colors, round belly. However the LFS owner thought he might have fin-clamp, so he provided me with a few tablets of medication to fix things if he didn't look good after a day. From observing him for the last hour, I'd say he clamped his tail-fin as a defense mechanism when the kid tried netting him, cause he's been fanning it most of the time. I also picked up a few Gold Apple Snails. Right now they are way too big, but I'm gonna be breeding them to provide some smaller stock. He's about 1.5 to 1.75 inches long, as pictured below. I picked up some frozen bloodworms, however, I'm not sure what else I can feed him at his size. If possible, could someone confirm if Gold Apple Snails are a go/no-go for a GSP?
