New Mbu not Eating

I got a new Mbu (5") on Sunday and decided to let him acclimate until Tuesday before feeding him. He is not interested in shrimp or a goldfish. He did chase a small crayfish but when it escaped, he gave up. Any suggestions?

Water conditions are great

You should be feeding him foods such as mussels and krill

I'd try some small ghost shrimp and re try the cray fish. The mussles might trigger a response. But i wonder if it might just take a little more time for him to settle in. How is the activity level of the puffer? For me new puffs tend to take awhile to settle in if its in a busy part of the room.

What exactly are the water conditions? "Great" has little meaning to us.

The mbu's (at least 5 inches) at one of my lfs's eats greeat and is only in a 10 gallon shallow tank...way too small of an area, but a very happy fish none the less.

thanks for the replies guys.

1. puffer is in a 29 tall. will transition to his very own 120g as soon as he's eating regularly
2. his activity level is low. he moves around a bit but not that much.
3. water: ammonia: 0, nitrite: 0, temp about 80-82.

He ate 2 earthworms this afternoon but still shows no interest in anything else. I'll try the mussels and ghost shrimp. thanks.

An Mbu needs a minimum of 1000 gallons and grows up to 30 inches.

I think that if you ave found him to eat a few things, he's just adjusting. Probably will happen again when you move him.

Thanks. I havent had this issue with other fish before so it is new to me. I will give him some time before i panic.

Yea they get huge, 1000 gallons at the least I would say.
