Water To Soft for DP?

Water To Soft for DP?

I am setting up a 20 gal long DP tank. My last water test I noticed my water is reading soft (on the Quick Dip Jungle Labs water test). Is that going to be ok for DP's? Some books I have mention that South Asia water is very soft so I am wondering if this is the same native water as DP's? Any thoughts?

Test strips are pretty unreliable. I'd recommend getting a liquid test kit such as the Aquarium Pharmaceuticals' Master Test Kit. As to your question, though, most fish can adapt to the water as long as they are acclimated properly and the water is stable.

DPs are native to hard alkaline warm water, but they can get their minerals from their diet. They are not picky about GH & KH.
