I find a store that carries DP's...well at least I thought so. It was a petsmart and they had a sign for dwarf puffers...for 2.49 a piece...the tank was filled w/ other misc. fish. No DP's of course. So I talk to the dept. leader guy...and sometimes I wish people couldnt talk because it just reverals how stupid they really are. I ask him when they are due for a shipment, he replies, "I am not ordering them anymore, they are a brackish water fish and dont do well in our tanks". To which I respond with, "no imagine they wouldn't do well in a 10 gallon tank w/ 20 or more tankmates". I walk away disgusted and forget to tell him that they are NOT brackish water fish...Well in short I was wondering if Icould call him back and ask him to special order me that fish, does anyone know if this is possible?

They would likely only be able to get a whole batch in. Far more than you'd likely be willing to take yourself, meaning there would be a bunch left over to fend for themselves in their poor care.

Taking a road trip to another town that has them or having them shipped to you from a better store is probably a better idea.

ironically petsmart is the only local pet store near me that has dp's in stock(from which i plan on buying from) and they keep them in fresh water here. They have about 8 in a 20 gallon. Not the greatest, but hey some of them look reasonably healthy, I've been stopping in weekly to check up on them and see if i can i.d. them.

I think this is what I am going to end up doing, there is a pet shop about 50 miles out of town that I am going to check in a few weeks.

Petsmart will generally not special order. I was hired into their fish department as a co-op student and since then there are species we haven't been ordering, as well I had (I don't work there anymore) made sure that a lot of the fish got more seperation in their tanks. Larger fish were spread out over multiple tanks instead of cramped into one, and I made sure orders weren't sent out to order new loads of fish until our stock was almost depleted, effectively reducing the amount of fish in any given tank to about 2/3rds to half of what they were usually being stocked at. It has probably reverted back to its evil ways by now, however.
