I have a humpback puffer and I feed him 30 minutes ago and he still has a piece of shrimp hanging out of his right gil. He looks unconfritable. Should I net him and pull it out? What sould I do
Oh wow, weird one. I think I would leave it for a little bit myself, and see if he manages to "blow" it out himself. If you try pulling it out it I'd be worried about doing damage.
I think i'd keep this one under observation for a while too. He may be able to dislodge it himself. If it's still there in an hour or two maybe netting and trying to free it would be a good idea... though it would be a delicate operation. I'd want an extra pair of hands around to help.
no I do not have a digital camera. I wish I did.I feel bad for the guy. He is just sitting there looking at me like I did it. I am think if I net him an put him in a shallow bowl of water where he can still breath. Then I think I might be able to get at him better.
My guess would be if you try to catch him, the exertion and wiggling around will probably be enough to dislodge it. But I'd wait a bit, no use stressing him out unnecessarily.
taken care of. I netted him, and I was really logged in there. It took me a couple times of just swipping at it really lightily going towards the back of him. He didn't really like me touching him., but he looks a lot better know
