Making a "Mini-Nile"

Here is the situation: I have two things:

1) Tank - 6' long, 2' high, 18" deep
2) Fish - Fahaka Puffer (6")

The Goal:

I want to make this tank into a good recreation of what the natural Nile River habitat would be like. I'm talking substrate, plants, everything! No silly decorations or anything. This is the real thing

I was just looking for some info to see if anyone had some info on the Nile River and how the recreation of the Nile would affect the Puffer.

Would my puffer be happy in that kind of setup?

I had already seen it, and it didn't give me what I was looking for. It doesn't have any information on the plants, water conditions, or the substrate quality/type etc. I might have to go to the library or something, because the internet isn't doing much good.

I couldn't find the Nile, but if you scroll down the page there are other African rivers that may have similar plantlife/water chemistry.
