At the age they are normally sold, its almost impossible to tell. ALL males have wrinkles behind their eyes. Don't go by the belly line, not all males get it and some females do. The wrinkles are the only way to tell. However, with the juvies at the store, they are usually either females or males who have not yet developed their wrinkles. I ended up with 3 males.
So I can't attest to one being more "fun" than the other. :p

oh no!
im orderin them in... iv asked for 4 females and one male, but what if i get something like 4 males and one female?!?!?!?
its a shame there is not some way of sorting them into sex easier, cos it could end up makin my first puffer tank very unsuccessful!
How do your males behanve to each other?

I lost one awhile back (not from aggression or anything though) but the two remaining are the best of friends. Probably because there's no female to fight over. If I threw one in, all bets would be off.
Whatever you get, just watch them closely every day. Don't relax and think because they're fine one day that they'll be fine the next. As you've seen in other threads, that's not always the case. If you notice any causing trouble or being picked on, take it back to the store.
