Is my plan ok for a 40Gal

Post by koops2121 »

Well I plan to setup my 40Gal (36x12x20h) which has been dry for over a year while I had my 80gal setup with 4 super lame piranha's.
So my plan is to put 2 - F8 and 2 - Bumblebee Goby in there (we'll see how the BBG do...)
I have it heavily decorated, however I need to get a "rock dwelling" for some hiding for the BBG's.

My filter is a HOB rated for an 75gal tank, it will have sponge, floss and biomax in it.
The water will slowly changed to BW @ 1.005ish up from FW (since the pet store keeps the little guys in FW).
I will pre-cycle using the fishless method in your library.
Feeding ED since they'll be small (under 1"), feeding sometime hard 2-3 times a week for their teeth.
Water changes will be done every week @ 50%. Replacement water will be de-chlorinated and salt added for 48hours before adding to tank.

Is there anything I'm missing?
I just want to make these little guys a perfect home!
Thanks,

Sounds pretty good to me koops. Plenty of space for the F8's. Sounds like you've got everything covered.

Good to hear!
Now it's time to go shopping for all the stuff I'm missing.
Sucks waiting for the fish though... ;)

W/only 2 F8s & a couple of GSPs in a 40g, if you're looking to save a lil on salt, you might be able to get away w/25% WCs.
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

I'll try that out once my tank is established and see how my Nitrates are. That would be nice to cut down on the # of buckets I need to use!

Please tell me that was a mis-type and you meant gobies rather than GSPs. :)
