sump?

my brother long time marine freak owner of 210 gallons of wonderful reef is telling me to scrap my filter and go with just a sump system... is this a good idea? if you have ready any of my other posts then your up todate on my problems... but all aside i do no most of the facts and think i am doing things right but i think i am going to have to qt my togsp that are about an inch in size can i do this in a 20gal tank and for how long can i keep them in there? they just keep getin sick then better and now seems like the ick..

From what I've been told you only what to do that in a full marine tank with a skimmer.

A sump is a good idea for any tank, freshwater, brackish or marine, but I wouldn't pull a filter off unless it was a full marine tank with lots of live rock. Puffers need all the filtration they can get, they are very messy fish.

SG of .015 and as they grow they will make it to .022 for there adult life, any one have any suggestions on this matter of how what when why and where? and if any one is selling one let me know

Go to Reef Central & check to see if there are any reef clubs in your area. Lots of folks are getting rid of equipment.

Are you sure they have ich & it's not just their spines you're seeing?

i have to wonder the same thing.. but to be honest there new... they werent there before.... and only one of them is really noticable.. it looks like salt crystals but only on there bellys and then just a light if you will over spray like i just painted a car and the fish was hanging out close by and got dusted.. but there only showing any kind of depth on the belly and the belly is white so when i catch him at a profile view with the white led light i can see a siloute of tiny tiny bumps on his belly.. and there new as in yesterday to the day before... im totally lost but i can tell ya this i hope some one burns down petco for the deplorable living arangements... do you think they would benifit if i bump the sg up to 16 or 17?

Those bumps are it's spines. Not to worry. I'd get the temp higher though.

they were doing better for a few days like that.. what temp would you recomend? and should i do the sump set up?

I know this has been mentioned already, but sumps are great for any type of aquatic set-up, be they freshwater, brackish, marine fish only, or marine reef. Sumps add for great versatillity of equipment, and on there MOST basic level add water volume to the system which increases your margin for error through greater stabillity.
