He's aggressive because he's in a small tank. You might think it's funny, but he probably doesn't think it's so great.

Well no, i don't think it's funny, hence i came on here to see if i could get a solution to the problem.

Just to let ya know Dinsdale, i got this puffer from a guy who was gonna basically put him down the loo. I have never kept any fish, so had to put myself about and actually learn from the start, how to keep and look after him.
He came in something like a 18 or 19 gallon tank and he was only an inch shorter than he is right now, so cramped he definitely was, i have done my best to improve his living conditions, and will continue to do so when financial situations allow me to.
So after saying all that, I ain't on here to look for some kind of sympathy vote or anything like that mate, alls i wanted was a little advice from those who know, but, I'd just appreciate it if you'd keep your sarcastic comments to yourself my friend.

I have to agree too many people on this forum are quick to jump down someones throat CHILL OUT. Enough is Enough it has been posted earlier the fish needs a bigger tank he knows this already. I mean come on I'm sure everyone here that can drive see's someone speeding down the road everyday you know this is wrong but I wonder how many of you jump out of your car at the red light and walks over to the guys car and starts insulting and screaming at him for it? none I'd be willing to bet

I ain't on here to piss people off either Dinsdale, if you'd have bothered to look at my posts before that little jibe at me, you'd have seen that i have had the puffer less than a year and that i have come onto this site at every given opportunity, to make sure that i was doing the right things the right way, and all for his welfare not mine.

Anyways after all that lets just leave it there yeah

I'm glad to hear that there aren't thin skins here, no harm done then. I'm sure your fahaka will be getting a bigger home as soon as your 6 kids stop eating & growing!

Maybe your local fish store can help you find someone with a big tank who will adopt your fahaka.

It sure seemed like you didn't understand that the reason he's so aggressive is because of the tight living space. I'm just being honest.

While your concern for the fish is genuine, could you absolutely 100% guarantee this Fahaka would be any less aggressive if he was in a bigger tank.

As far as fish aggression goes, I think its more to do with the individual personality of the fish rather than the tank size. I put my Oscar in a 70 gallon for a few months instead of his 50, he had more space and he was still as aggressive as he ever was in his 50. I could put him in a 300 gallon and his aggression towards me and others wouldn't change, that's his personality.

As a Fahaka is a naturally aggressive fish this may not change whatever tank you put him in and at the end of the day all you could achieve is giving him more territory to aggressively defend and as he seems to be attacking his reflection it does sound like he's defending his territory and it sounds like Chopper has a real mean one there in complete comparison to Fella's recent Fahaka acquisition which is a very tame exam specimen.
