CF Retrofit kits

Post by Boxermom »

Does anyone know if its possible, or even adviseable, to install a CF retrofit kit onto an aquarium canopy? I haven't got a light fixture but was wondering if it could be installed right onto the wood of the canopy itself. Or would that be a fire hazard? :D

That's what they are made for!

I put a 65w retrofit kit into the canopy my boyfriend built for my goldie tank. Of course, the back of the canopy is open so it lets out a lot of heat. If you have the room you could always put in some spacers between the reflector and the canopy, or even install some computer fans if your light didn't come with one.
