I Came Home To A Misty Tank and Dead GSP
hmm what happend, when i left the house the tank was like totally normal, but when i came back it was like really really foggy and misty and my fish is dead

How much and how often did you change the water?
What are the exact water parameters for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, ph, salinity etc?

well how mnay fish 2 right now but before i had like 6 but that was like 1 week ago
eh i dont' know it was like a GSP and a bumble bee puffer
it's this filter called wisper
well i think it might be the fact that i did 2 water change in a day because i needed to move my desk around so i had to take some water out
i fed them this worms and blood worms

The tank crashed from a really bad cycle.
Fish waste decomposes and turns into ammonia, bacteria eat the ammonia and turn it into nitrite, different bacteria eat the nitrite and turn it into nitrate.
This is called the nitrogen cycle. When a tank is first set up, these bacteria aren't present yet, and so ammonia builds up untilt he bacteria begin to eat it. Ammonia and nitrite are very toxic. So when the ammonia built up, it poisoned your fish.
Furthermore, that 10 gallon tank was way overstocked with fish. Even though they are small, 10 gallons isn't much water volume.
That GSP will grow to 6 inches and needs 30 gallons to itself to be comfortable.
The bumble bee puffer is probably a figure 8 puffer and needs 15 gallons to itself.
You should see if you can take the fish back and do some more research before trying again.

ya i got the tank and then i started all my reserahc so i knew it was too small, that's why i've been looking for a 30 gallon tank, and acutelly the bumblee bee is a bumblee bee puffer, cause i also looked at figure 8 but they were kinda small, so the bumblee bee was acutelly a real one LOL, it was cute, i'm doing a fishless cycling right now for my 10 gallon tank, although i wont' put a puffer back in but if i successfully cycle this tank could i pour the water i have in the 10 gallon tank into the 30 gallon one when i get it to spped up the 30 gallon fishless water cycling process?Phaedrus wrote:The tank crashed from a really bad cycle.

I would recommend researching each of the 5 types very carefully and thoroughly, learning everything you can about each one, so that you can make an informed decision.

OK, before you do anything else (especially buy more fish) start by reading thru the puffer profiles at the Puffer List. Then come back here & start reading everyhing you can in our Library. The best way to keep healthy, happy, long-lived fish is do research, research, research! Then ask questions about what you think you don't understand.
