Planning a new tank

Post by Boxermom »

Well, I think its time to move my other silus (fka modestus) into his own tank. My other one is in a tank by itself, and is the more passive one. As was obvious from my recent photos, Piglet has been in my semi-aggressive tank for a little while. While there haven't been any major issues, I've noticed a couple of my tiger barbs and my RTBS have tiny little nips on the bottom corner of their tail fins. So I think I should probably get him out before a problem does happen, if possible.

I have a line on a 20 long from someone localish who may sell me his tank for $10. Not sure what comes with it other than the tank (I hope at the very least it has a hood). What I'll probably do, once hubby recovers from his stroke, :D is move my son's guppies into it and use his 10g guppy tank for my Piglet. I think the guppies would probably be happier in a long and he doesn't really need all that much space I don't think. Or maybe not. Depends on what hubby thinks we should do. He's reaction is most likely going to be "where are we going to put it?"

I don't feel too bad though. I did find him a train set that was a pretty good price. Its for the German brand of trains he's been collecting all his life. Found someone on craigslist selling a complete set, so we went and got it today. :)

*giggle* there you go!

I know how you feel, I haven't quite broken it to the boyfriend that I came home from the ACA with 2 20 high tanks that were being sold for $30 (for both), plus the 3 10 gallon tanks I bought to take along, and the 20 long I found at the local St Vinnies with a stand and two airpumps for $15.

Yeah, it was a good week to buy tanks me thinks! Of course I have no room to set any of them up, so they are scattered in the strangest places at the moment...

Ok, now I have a dilemma. I'm not getting the 20 long afterall, but most likely a 29g. Complete set up with filter, light, etc, for $20! My dilemma is should I try the two silus together in it with loads of decor? Seems like kind of a waste to have just one little guy in a big tank all by himself.

If I do that, I can move the two DPs into a 10g, which they'd probably be happier in.
