GSP 40 gallons for life?
GSP 40 gallons for life?
Hi everyone. I am looking at setting up a GSP tank but I have a few questions. At what age should they be at full marine? And, with the proper appliances, is a 40 gallon tank enough space for a full grown GSP in full marine?

it'll answer all your questions and more.
A 40g will be fine for the life of a single GSP. They will attain ~6 inches, so 30g is considered the minimum and 40g is better.
The article describes approxamately at what length they should be for each level of SG. Basically, the key is to raise it gradually. There is no real set rule on when to have them in what salinity, simply that they have been known to do best when in brackish water up to marine conditions.

Be sure it's totally cycled before adding the puffer. Either use the fishless method (excellent article in our Library) or Bio-Spira, at the same time as adding the puffer (best poured into your filter).
