Introducing a male irrubesco

Post by PuffTheMagicFishy »

Hi everybody!

I have two female C. irrubescos in a 10-gal tank. Having listened to everyones' advice, I shall be returning one of the females this week as soon as I can get a ride to the lfs. I called up the shop and they said they have a bunch of new red-eyes in, including males, which I could trade the female for. Would it be possible to introduce a male at this point? The puffers have been in the tank for less than a week. Would two irrubesco puffs be too much long-term for a 10-gal with lots of plastic plants and hidey-holes?

Thank you again! I'll stop pestering everyone as soon as I get my puffs all sorted out. :D

I believe I have mentioned several times that they need 10g ea. I had a m&f lorteti (very closely related) in a 10g. After spawning w/him 3x, she killed him!

Whoops! sorry I missed that! I was going off of The Puffer List, which says minimum five gallons each. I'll trust your greater experience. :)

Pufferlist says minimum 10 gallons, but an easy mistake when lifespan of 5 is right underneath it ;)

*smacks forehead* Youre right! clubself

OK one puffer only in this tank. Aloha's going back to the store as soon as I can get a ride. They've been bullying eachother like crazy today. I'm trying to keep them well-fed so they don't nip out of hunger....
