dithers for a modestus??

dithers for a modestus??

Hey


I was just wondering If it is possible to find a suitable dither fish for a modestus, as i have provided a good deal of plants rocks, drift wood,and other hiding spots (aka the heater lol). But he never seems to come out when people are around, though he does come to say hello when he really wants food. I know they are best alone , but when i first got him somehow there were a few endlers left in his tank an he didn't seem to bother them at all before i was finally able to get them out (about a week later, but this could be from his being new to the tank. just wondering what you guys thought.

I had guppy youngins with mine as dithers but ended up removing them. All the activity seemed to bother them and made them even more shy. Now its just otos and it seems better.

Not a clue but not very old I'm sure. They're both still only about an inch long.

where did you get them from, all the mollies i have gotten from lfs's have been small, not to say that i haven't seen big ones there.but my current wild caught ones are are from three to almost five inches. :wink:

Mollies or modestuses? Either way, we only get fish from my LFS (sole living exception is one remaining guppy out of three and one male betta that came from PetCo before we found our LFS). The modestuses had been at the LFS for a couple of months, in an off the beaten path area that most people don't pay much attention to.

Our black lyretail mollies came from the same LFS, but we haven't seen any nearly as nice since then. Solid black with no color flaws at all and lovely lyretails. Most that we see now are either blotchy or their tails aren't as nice. So they buy all the fry we bring in. :)

I can't imagine my modestus letting anything live in his tank, other than a "protected" pleco. He beat up a fish 10x his size!

Mine always seem to be in the plants. Hasn't bothered the guppy juvie that I couldn't catch without digging up all the plants, and the three otos are still intact. Seems to be really shy.

my modestus likes to hide under the filter and only comes out for food. I have some endlers with him and he dosent bother them
