IDing the "blue spot puffer" (Canthigaster sp.)

From the pictures I have seen, C. papua has smaller spots (looking specifically at those right below the eyes). Here's a working link to the article Feathers&Fins posted: http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2005/5/fish . We may never know for certain, lol.

F&F, I just submitted an article on tobies to an online aquarium mag; let me know if you are interested and I can send you a copy. IMO/E, these are by far the most easy-going of the marine/semi-marine puffers. They are great feeders (all of my previous three ate pellets, though I haven't tried the new guy yet) and they are extremely tolerant of other fish. If I could only keep one fish, it would be one of these guys.

Tobies like that one are one of those memorable fish that well as my girlfriend said "If I were homeless I'd push his tank around in my shopping cart"..... Congrats on a very cute puffer.

Quite an old post, but FWIW, the first puffer is a solandri, the second a C. papau. You can tell the spots on the papau are blue, the solandri's are white.
