I'm in no way doubting you, I just wonder, then, why this isn't on the PraziPro bottle? It says nothing about ingestion, but it should; I think more would use it.
I probably should have said "are both best dosed by soaking". While I've posted saying several times you can dose the water column, I much prefer soaking the food for both medicines. Praziquantel is used in humans, too, and I can guarantee you that you can't dose people via the water column. YMMV, but it's worked for me.
Thanks guys! I guess I'll try dosing the bloodworms with the Prazi-pro tomorrow, cause they are still eating very well! The only time they pick at each other is during feeding time, and its not really serious, just one trying to eat more than the other. I am also ordering snails tomorrow and have a 10 gallon for breeding .
This is the second time in the last few days I have heard of someone talking a pet store employee into promising to put the GSP's into the saltwater section.... but don't they need to be slowly acclimated over a few weeks or months?
No, the reason you need to slowly change the SG is to allow your bio filter time to catch up. The animals themselves are much more tolerant. I wouldn't plop one right into full SW, but a few hours will suffice.
One time, in my acclimating my gsp to salt, I raised his sg by maybe .003 in one waterchange and his eyeballs sunk into his head.... I don't know. Maybe because it was sudden....
How long a duration of acclimation is reccommended (from fresh to salt), if you are acclimating just a fish and not a bio-filter?
I try to make all changes gradually and there is no reason to rush an increase in salinity. I would target no more than .001 to .002 per week, slower would be even better. JMHO.
So how much salt per gallon does it take to raise the SG .002? I'm leaving for a couple weeks and am going to do a water change the day before I leave, and I need to get the SG raised a bit for my F8s.
Dry measurements aren't accurate. You'll have to use your refractometer (or hydrometer). I'd go slower if you can, especially if you won't be there for a few weeks to monitor things.
My mom is. I have the cubed bloodworms at the moment, and they eat exactly one cube right now. She said that she would defrost in the tank water then feed them each night. At their sizes (about 2" and 1.5") is every day too often?
Another question- With Prazi-pro it says that if you are treating the water to do it every 3-5 days. So if you are treating their food in it how often should it be done?
So how often should I be feeding my puffers at this point? They are still about the same size (2" and 1.5" not including tail). They are still a little thin, so should I keep feeding them every day for a little while?
