Figure 8 question

Is the care and water parameters for a figure 8 similar to a GSP. I have GSPs and was thinking of getting a figure 8 ( species only tank ). Seen some today at my LFS and their markings were incredible.

Possibly at a very young age you MIGHT consider the two species sharing tank needs such as water chemistry, but the GSP needs marine later in adulthood while keeping high brackish water as juvenile. The F8 requires a lighter brackish water. If you have each in separate tanks and your used to one type of water chemistry, I don't see why not, just make the sure the tanks have individual specifications in water. The acidity is the same however. The F8 in feeding just needs to be fed a bit more than the GSP a week.

P.S. GSP- Heavy brackish into marine
(Feed snails as juvenile into crabs shells and legs later to trim teeth)
F8- Light brackish
(Basically snails throughout life to trim teeth)

I keep green spotted puffers and figure 8's together in a species tank with a specific gravity of about 1.012, so far so good, however everytime i write anything on this forum about it everyone jumps down my throat for doing it. In my experiance they have been getting along relativly well, but i have to feed the figure 8's individually with tongs because they are intimidated by the GSPs during feeding time. Anyway good luck.

Jon, How long have they been living together? How big is the tank? Yes, this may work short-term but as the GSPs grow to 3x the size of the F8s & get the adult aggressiveness in them, you may be sorry one morning...

You mean everytime in all of your last 7 posts? Ok, its not just because you keep them together, Jon. Its because you have 2 Figure 8s and 3 GSPs in a 20 gallon tank!!!! That's barely enough room for ONE F8, much less any of the rest of them. Totally inappropriate housing for those fish. THAT is why people are most concerned.
