today i went to a LFS and bought a lil snail for 1.99. because i have noticed he trys to break open these rocks i have in the tank that are bigger then my actual gravel and sorta resemble snail shells, he bites and blows on them like he is trying to blow off the shell. but anyway i dropped the snail into my tank OdiE knew exactly what it was the instant he saw it he kept attaking it and broke a little piece off but he couldnt break thru it so i took it out and crack it for him. he then cracked it open and it was EMPTY! lol i was mad 2.00 for a snail shell. Cheap bastards lol.

A $2 snail? What kind was it? You should set up a little snail breeding tank, it's worth it!

Blowing at, and picking up, pieces of gravel is pretty commonplace. But snails and other hard-shelled critters are the best means of preventing tooth overgrowth. A varied diet is equally important for the long-term health of the fish.

well i do have 2 extra 10 gallon tanks. I plan to put a couple dwarf puffers in one of them and i could use the other as a snail breeding tank? what are the proper requirements on breeding snails?

By the time you sucessfully get snails to breed & grow the babies, that fahaka will be on bigger & better foods, IMO.
