If you aren't using real plants, the standard stock lighting is fine.

I really love the fake mangrove roots, offered in 3 sizes, at Petsmart. I have different varieties in almost all my tanks.

My LPS has some really cool looking Mountain things. I know it's not the most natural look, but I'm really looking for anything to avoid. Also How thick should my bottom Gravel Layer be. And I know your not supposed to use a net to remove puffers. What do you guys use. Ive been using a Measuring cup to moderate success.

Also, I have some Reptile food(crickets and Flies) left over from my sisters lizard. They are Vitamin enriched for reptiles. Will they be healthy for my fish? I have doubts so I'm making sure.

For BW fish, a substrate of crushed coral or aragonite is recommended to keep the pH around a steady 8.

He's a green Spotted Puffer. The PH is about 7.5 right now. Is that too low?

That's acceptable, but in a brackish environment, the pH can tend to drift downward and potentially crash if not properly buffered by a substrate such as crushed coral/aragonite and/or replaced with water changes.

If you don't want to use aragonite as the substrate, you can keep a bag of it in your filter. It'll work just as well.

for the bag of argonite or crush coral placed in the filter.. It could act as a house for beneficial bacteria as well right? Just that i would probably need to rinse it in tank water whenever it clogs up or something...

Yes, that is correct. It would become colonized by bacteria and give you added bio-filtration. And rinsing it in tank water would be all that's needed to keep it free of debris.

Is it possible to get Aragonite in something smaller than 15 lb bags. All of the pet stores here sell that as a minimum. Or could I get a actual filter bag w/ it?
