I've fed my F8s crickets before, and they love them. They make a great, satisfying crunch. My only issue with them is keeping them in their carrier until I need them, and once I open the thing to get one out about 12 will make a break for it. :(

Oh, and I've seen one of my DPs puff after being bitten by another one. It was during mating season and they were all being little jerks to eachother.
