Tank size and stocking

Post by nebeener »

Hello,

I'm an experienced aquarist, but entirely new to this forum and to pea puffers in general. Recently, I was telling a friend about my ramshorn snail problem (came in on a plant) and they suggested I get 3-4 Indian dwarf pea puffers for a new 10 gallon long tank I set up - suggesting the snails could be their food source and help control the population in my other tanks. Originally I was considering a Betta or a school of nano fish, but would dwarf pea puffers be an option in 10 gallons? It's over filtered (external UNS 60 canister with flow control), heavily planted, driftwood, caves, etc., and fully cycled, just waiting for its new homeowners. From my short research, think it would be good habitat wise, but not sure about size, and I am seeing conflicting information on different sites. I certainly don't want to do it wrong and cause harm.

Thanks for any advice!

Thank you! That is exactly the information I was hoping to find here. Sadly, I see I don't have the right size aquarium to be able to keep them happy. I appreciate the help!

Other than bettas, I always try to avoid keeping single fish. It seems cruel to me. I know lots of people keep single gouramis and some other species, but I just can't bring myself to do it! Lol!
