fahaka laying eggs

howdy all,

had confirmation tonight that my fahaka is definitely a female! she's laid literally thousands of eggs in one patch of the aquarium.

Sad that I'll never be able to get them fertilised as no way of finding a guaranteed male and even if i did they'd probably kill each other before breeding!!

It'll be a bit of a nuisance to have to clean them all up before they go rotten every few weeks

If the puffer is a female she can lay the eggs without a males presence? I did not know that and that is very interesting. I have a baby puffer that I've had for 8 days now and I do not know if it's a male or female. If a puffer lays eggs without another puffer present, that means you have a female? Am I reading this correctly?

No, I actually do not drop an egg every month. I have not dropped a egg in 22 years. Fish and humans are totally different so, I honestly did not know that she would drop eggs without a male present. That's what I came here for was to learn about my Fahaka Puffer. I have only been back into the aquarium hobby for a little over 3 months. I used to keep aquariums but I wasn't taking care of them properly bc I did not have the Internet to tell me about partial water changes. I had goldfish and would completely clean the tank from top to bottom each time and I would replace pretty much all of their water each time. Somehow most of my fish survived. With my Fahaka I am trying to learn everything that I can about him bc I take owning one very seriously. I want Yoshi to have the best life that I can possibly give him or her.
