She was sold to me as a rare “bottle puffer” and she was pricey. I was thinking she’s definitely not a bottle puffer from the genus auriglobus.
I was thinking either a Pao turgidus or abei. She’s about 6 inches, very active and friendly. She prefers snails. She has not displayed and aggression towards my mollies in the tank.
I probably got ripped off but she sat in the store for a month in a tiny tank. I had to take her home. They’ve sold me most of my puffers but this is my first mystery one.

Definitely not what they sold you. I think turgidus is correct. Nice puffer either way. Sorry you got ripped off though.

Has anyone ever bred a turg in captivity? They have a supposed male (my guess, he’s more streamline).
And she’s now munching on the smaller mollies… big ones are getting moved. They were feeding her krill (not great), she might need the nutrients so she can have the small ones. I prefer puffers anyway

"Has anyone ever bred a turg in captivity?" Not that I've ever heard of.

Hm, I think I’ll purchase a tank divider for the other one they have and splurge and buy the fellow. They said it’s their last one from their supplier, and I’m a greedy puffer mom. Maybe they’ll like each other, who knows. But with a tank divider they won’t be able to get at each other until they get used to each other. Which is fine by me! She’s so docile (and starting to warm up to me! Caught her following me around my room in the tank). Except for the poor liberty mollies and my Congo tetras… those were snacks at least she’s eating.Pufferpunk wrote: ↑Sat Oct 25, 2025 8:22 pm "Has anyone ever bred a turg in captivity?"
