Hairy Puffer Puffs For Attention/Food?

We have had Leroy for a little while but he’s been out of quarantine and in his main tank(he is the only fish in there tank) for about a month now. He is about 4” long. I trained him to come out/up to the front of the tank to get snacks/dinner when I splash the top of the water. Starting last week he has been puffing up. We were worried that he was seeing his reflection or that something was wrong in the tank but everything looks to be good. He does not seem in distress and the size he gets can vary. I will go over and see whats up to and now I think he’s doing it for attention/snacks… I will be on the couch and he will come to the front of the tank, swim around a bit then puff while looking right at me… if I go over there he deflates and gets all wiggly and ready for a snack. I will give him some pellets or a worm and then he’s happy as a clam and doesn’t puff up again, swims a bit then goes back to lurking or whatever he does all day have I created a puffing monster? Is this normal? He never did this in his quarantine tank. Our other puffers(spotted Congo and red potato) have never puffed up. He has always been a bit of a ham which is why we got him at the store but this seems a bit much… any thoughts would be great. Thanks!
