Potential pregnant Pygmy Puffer

Hi All,

I’m a UK based Pygmy puffer owner, I’ve had my puffers for around 6 months and I have a decent 250 litre setup with plenty of plants, substrate etc.

I have 9 puffers in total and I’m starting to wonder if one of them may be pregnant as it is noticeably rounder in the stomach than the others. Could anyone advise, if this is the case, how long the puffer would look like this before laying eggs so I know when to be on the lookout for them?

Im going to look into setting up a small tank for the babies to move them into if indeed my puffer is pregnant, but any advice would be very welcome.

Hi, I have a group of 18-20 & have yet to see them breed. They prefer to lay their eggs in Java moss, so if you intend to try, be sure to have plenty of that. The biggest problem you will have will be finding foods small enough for the fry. You'll have to hatch infusoria.
