moving my fish

One thing I didn't see anyone else mention (but they may have and I missed it), don't feed your fish for a few days before the move. This means they won't foul the water during the move as much, so it will stay a heck of a lot cleaner. Fasting them for a few days shouldn't hurt them, unless you have fry or very young/sensitive fish.

I've used the breathable bags, and while they work great, they are so thin I'd be worried about a puffer biting right through them. I know the second my SAP is in a bag or cup he's biting the walls.

I've moved my fish across a few states (a 5 hour drive), with nothing more than rubbermaid tubs and a battery powered air pump and an airstone. II had the lids on loosely (more for splashing and to keep it darker for the fish). They even had to stay in the tubs for a few days while we scrambled to get tanks set up, I just hooked up their airstones to a regular airpump at that point.

Of course, I made sure not to pack the tubs full of TOO many fish, just a few in each one.

I wouldn't be too worried about temperature issues, as long as there's nothing too sudden or drastic.

I know this is the case with many marine fish (angela, butterfly's, tangs) but I have never seen any of my puffers rest on their sides. Have you?

I have seen DPs sleep vertically on Java Fern leaves before. But that was years ago and only a one time event.

i shouldn't use a net to catch them correct? rather rile them up with something that wont hurt them

Use a net to ease them into a specimin container. Its easy for you, and safe for them

well, I'm glad to say that all went well and my fish are in there home for the next three months and then its time to move them again. thank you all for your advice, it surely paid off. i also gave them a little treat after the trip, a small piece of shrimp that they enjoyed.
