hello from Wales Uk

Post by hooligan »

we was passed on to this site by PufferPunk so here i am lol.

abit about myself.

I have been keeping fish for about 15years and over this time it has mostly been South american cichlids.
over the last few years i have spread my wings for different types of fish, Snakeheads, Catfish and more recently Puffers.

I have much to my own stupid fault had limited success until this year.

I first brought figure 8 about two years ago which first mistake was the shop i brought them from and secondly being a complete noob and not doing my research and lost them about a month later.

late last year, i picked up a nice little 5 gallon tank for a temp rearing tank after i had finished with it my wife quickly filled it with two ill locking dwarfs which again didn't take too well and lost them.

I hate not being able to keep fish alive and in good health, it becomes a personal challenge. so i did some research set up a nice little 10 gallon tank simple with sand rocks and some java fern. Went to my LFS (always clean and healthy fish) and picked up two nice plump puffers, a figure 8 and a GSP.

im pleased to report that after i got them home i brought them over to brackish and both are healthy and growing well, been 4 months now.

about a week and half ago i got my first Amazon Puffer which is in a 10g with some small tiger barbs as dithers but once im happy he got some growth he will be moving to my 55g SA bio.

with this sudden bug for puffers i have just cleared out one of my odd ball holding/ growout tanks and reset it up got a group of pygmy puffers which should arrive next week figures cross.

So here i am

I didn't realize you had a F8 too. Maybe I missed that?

I've always loved SA cichlids! I am placing my 2nd order for some more rare ones next week. :)

Did you say you're keeping an F8 and a GSP in a 10 gallon tank?

yes, but i did this for a couple of reasons, with my run of bad luck/ miss information and it was my first brackish tank so really going at it blind. also i wanted to make sure i could establish them correctly before i move them into a bigger tank.

the GSP will be moving on into a 55g SW set up (that's one of the reasons i came to the site) in the next few weeks. i'm also upgrading the figure 8 to a 30g brackish tank so it was a tempering/ grow out tank as sorts.
