What are congo puffers like to own?

Post by bigpuff »

I'm in the process of getting my 20g L back up and running & LFS has a red congo puffer I'm considering. I've seen it burrow in the sand, which is really cool, but what is it like to own? Does it get boring with it just sitting in the sand most of the time? Any other puffer that could go in there besides dwarfs?

Under the sand with eyeballs sticking up, unless hungry.

I love mine but I wouldn't have it as my only puffer. He's very unusual & I like that he burrows. Great mug on him!

I have a red Congo puffer, and I haven't seen him bury himself even once. He just lies on some java moss I have in his tank. He isn't the most active puffer, but when I put my hand in the tank he usually swims up to see if I have any food for him.

That's pretty cool. Looks funny as well. When you show someone the tank you're like " and those eyes sticking out the substrate are my Congo puffer" lol.
