Hello,
Ive treated Swayze (my baby fahaka) for IPs for 5 days with JBL Gyrodol. Soaked his food in it. But Im not sure if he is still infected or if he ever was to begin with. His poop is sometimes white, sometimes brown. Sometimes stringy, sometimes a big lump.
He eats well and is very active. Not sure if he is too thin - please see picture.
His las poop consisted of a lot of brown strings. It looked a bit like a bush of bloodworms (which was his last meal) except for the brown colour. The other day his poop was a big white lump, but he did eat some white fish.
But then again sometimes its been white and stringy.
I dont know what to do! Ive ordered some prazipro so should get that in a gew weeks. But are these IPs in my head rather than in Swayzes belly? Is it normal for him to have brown stringy poop or should it be more solid?
Parameters are:
Ph: 7
Ammonia: 0
Nitrit: 0
Nitrat: 0
Salt: 0
Tanksize is 530 liters and Swayze is alone in it.
Did a 40% WC yesterday. Change between 30-50% once a week.
I feed him once a day: snails, bloodworms, schrimps (live and dead ones), various types of fish like salmon and white fish, muscles, squit, scallops.

Since this board has been up, we have found there are several questions that routinely get asked in order to help diagnose problems. If you can have that information to begin with in your post, we'll be able to help right away (if we can!) without having to wait for you to post the info we need.
1) Your water parameters - pH, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrates and salinity (if appropriate). This is by far the most important information you can provide! Do not answer this with "Fine" "Perfect" "ok", that tells us nothing. We need hard numbers.
2) Tank size and a list of ALL inhabitants. Include algae eaters, plecos, everything. We need to know what you have and how big the tank is.
3) Feeding, water change schedule and a list of all products you are using or have added to the tank (examples: Cycle, Amquel, salt, etc)
4) What changes you've made in the tank in the last week or so. Sometimes its the little things that make all the difference.
5) How long the aquarium has been set up, and how did you cycle it? If you don't know what cycling is read this: Fishless Cycling Article and familiarize yourself with all the information. Yes. All of it.
We want to help, and providing this information will go a LONG way to getting a diagnosis and hopeful cure that much faster.
While you wait for assistance:
One of the easiest and best ways to help your fish feel better is clean water! If you are already on a regular water change schedule (50% weekly is recommended) a good step to making your fish more comfortable while waiting for diagnosis/suggestions is to do a large water change immediately. Feel free to repeat daily or as often as you can, clean water is always a good thing! Use of Amquel or Prime as a dechlor may help with any ammonia or nitrite issues, and is highly recommended.
Note - if you do not normally do large water changes, doing a sudden, large water change could shock your fish by suddenly changing their established water chemistry. Clean water is still your first goal, so in this case, do several smaller (10%) water changes over the next day or two before starting any large ones.

Re: Fahaka poop
I hope you don't have IPs in your head!!!
I'm not familiar with the meds you used. I think you should try again with the Prazi, as I know that should work well for this. He does look thin to me.
Why are you showing no nitrate?

You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

He does look a little thin to me too. Try the prazi too. Also up your feeds slightly til you see a slightly rounded tummy, it may not be ips as their poop will resemble their food a bit, treat again with the new meds as a precaution and see where you go from there
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

Re: Fahaka poop
Thanks for replies.
I managed to get a picture of the poop yesterday when it was a little white string (see pic) and today when it was a brown bush (see pic).
When I feed him he gets round and fat, but a bit lumpy belly sometimes. A few hours later he is tiny again. He has been growing in lenght tho over the last month Ive had him. I will have to wait for the prazipro and just hope it gets here.
Ive ordered a new testkit as well. I dont think mine is working as it has always just shown 0.

Re: Fahaka poop
So I recieved prazipro today. But how much should I give him? He is about 3" long but I have no idea how much he weighs. I am going to soak it in half a cube of bloodworms. Do I mix it with water or just add the parzipro directly to the food?
