Rebuilding Dwarf Puffer Tank

So i have decided to plan out a rebuild of my DP tank. As it stands now it is very diffcult to perform maintenance and would be a nightmare if i had any equipment failure that required replacement. This pic below is the current setup.

The cabient, filter and heater may be the only items staying. The 20gallon inside it is sitting on a shelf that is built into the cabinet. Here lies my main reason for the rebuild. I plan on building a freestanding system that the cabient will slide over. Ive been doing calculations on building a new tank from scratch to get the largest volume inside. With the new tank i will be discarding the undergravel that is in the current setup. New planting substrate and discarding any plants afflicted with the massive amount of hair algea right now.

Any ideas or advice welcome.

Great use for the old Zenith tube set, Welch4 !

It would be really cool to find a pedestal set - like this 1959 Philco Predicta,
and have a tank cast in the in the picture-tube shape.

Nice! Love the height of that too its annoying having to kneel down to view. I cant take all the credit though. My dad did the conversion after a tv repair attempt was foiled by unavailable parts. Of course close to 40 years later I still spent a solid week trying to find a replacement knob.

I'd bet that a vintage Russian fighter pilot's full-pressure helmet would make an excellent
home for a couple of D/Ps. Just mount the airtight lock collar base onto a 1/2" piece of thick
plastic or glass and you'd be digging life. The actual O2 hoses could hide any filter lines. It would
also need a small feeding / tank access hatch cut into the crown of the helmet. No sweat.

Not sure if that was directed to me, but ive planned out a couple builds and it always comes down to cost and if it needs drilling. Cell cast is expensive.
