You asked in your PM to me about any medications to use during quarentine of a new fish.
I wouldn't use any medication at all unless there were signs of illness to begin with, or became apparent during quarentine.
For quarentine, I'd recommend excelent water quality, and slightly higher than normal temperatures (to cause any latent ich to show itself). As well as having melafix on hand for any scrapes or nipped fins that are likely to be present with a new fish.
You can only respond to an illness, preemptive strikes aren't very practical, because you have no way to know what to treat for.

I just got expert advice (Bob Fenner). Your only chance is to find a friendly, understanding vet & get some chloramphenicol (succinate or succinic acid form) or chlormycetin. The book by Ed Noga, Fish Diseases, Diagnosis & Treatment, should tell you the dosage (best to weigh the fish) to inject.
