First Puffer (Red eye Puffer)

I've had this Red eyed puffer for a month now, He was in a tank with my parrot and shark cichlids. Now Before you all yell at me for that, I did now know what he was when we got him the pet store had him in a tank all by himself and were feeding him flakes. He was fine in the Cichlids tank for about a few weeks till he decided to kill all 3 of my sharks, so i took him out of that tank and now he has his only 20G tank. I'm just wondering what i can do to the tank to make him feel more at home in it, Right now its pretty empty because i have no idea what kind of environment he needs. Should i put sand in the bottom instead of rocks? Ive read all about puffer fish since i moved him but i keep getting mixed responses on what to do with his tank. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, i am new to this site just found it about a week ago.

Gravel substrate is fine. Make him some sort of cave to dwell in. Lots of plants are appreciated, too.

Welcome to the forum.

Your puffer will appreciate lots of decor whether plastic or real. Like mentioned a cave like structure will help him feel safe and secure.

Thank you guys , im heading up to the petstore tonight going to see if they have any live plants. Also going to see if they have snails, the move to a new tank has stressed him out, he seems to like the air bubbles i put in there earlier. I will post some pictures when hes less stressed out and his color is better.

Good for you rescuing him! Lol after he killed the 3 sharks, did he look at you with sad puppy eyes?

lol i wish he did, He was quite mad at me for moving him to a new tank :? he got over it in about a week tho :lol: .
