Today I have managed to make a massive fool of myself

Post by Stratters »

So I've spent a large part of today browsing round the two LFS, admiring the various puffers they have in stock, and drooling over the spiny boxfish.

Get home, got that nagging feeling in my head. Something is wrong. Push nagging thoughts out of head, make myself a coffee (guaranteed to NOT cure The Twitches), and settle down for a browse on here.

Then it hit me.

There was a Palambang. Never seen one before, and it was rather miserable looking. Twitch, twitch, twitch.

I turn to the Pufferpedia, and there it is. The beautiful, sad looking Palambang was in the MARINE section. Being me, a bit headstrong, and hating to think of the poor little Palambang stuck in it's salty tank of doom, I leapt for the phone, rang the LFS that had it, and told them.

I wasn't particularly polite. Words were said about stocking fish they had no knowledge of. Man on phone sent away with flea in his ear, and strict instructions to start slow desalination immediately.

And.

It was the wrong blasted shop :(

Everybody needs to embarrass themselves periodically... It keeps us human.

Oh, believe me, it's more than periodic, more of a default state.

That drives me crazy, pet stores automatically assume Puffers are marine...because of the famous porky and dogface. Good that you called and wanted to do something! :yourock:

This is how I found my fangs puffer... he was in fw, but look at him, not rock to hide behind. For a whole year!

Poor fangs :(

They probably think I'm nuts now, the poor Palambang was actually at the LFS that I got Spud from, so that's the second time I've torn them a new one over the phone. I told them to join here, and try to learn something, stupid feckers murdered him by pulling him out of the water during tank-bag transfer.

Give them one of these! It's fool proof, and is my trusted puffer transportation device. Easier and safer than a net.

Yup, it was the Spud Murderers. I think they have a fairly good idea of my opinion of them now.

I don't use a pitcher. I generally just use a plastic bag. I do use net(s) to herd the fish into the bag.
