I dont know why but the movie 'Clash of the Titans' came to mind as I put the new puffer into his home. The whole scene that involved: 'Release the Kraken'
Here it is...
I was just going to leave it at that, with the box photo but that would be mean.
I was surprised to see a plastic container with holes in it that the puffer was shipped in the bag with. Ive never seen that before...
Thats all I could get for now. I had to leave work for a little while to get him acclimated. Did not get to stay to watch him much or get any other pictures. I saw him attack his own reflection for just a moment.
Will try to get photos of him later to share with you guys.

I got him from The Wet Spot in Portland, Oregon. Its about a 2.5 hour drive for me to go down there (each way, so 5 hr total!) or they will ship to my home next day for $20. That is cheaper than the gas to drive so I had him shipped UPS to my home. Ive ordered from them a couple times and been very happy with what I have received.

The little cup was pretty small, like a betta cup with holes punched in it. I bought it as a 2.5"-3" fish but it seems on the bigger side, maybe slightly bigger.

Is it a common practice to put them in a container inside the bag? I presume its because they could easily puncture the bag if they decided to bite...

I've no idea, but I can see the logic behind it; it can't bite the bag, and the cup keeps it suspended, so it can't gulp air. Makes sense, I'd be worried about sharp edges on the holes though.
Never trust big puffers. The fingers you save may be your own. RTR

Yeah they took a knife or something to the holes so that they did not have edges. Seems like they have shipped a puffer or two in their time.

Not the greatest angle,
Funny angle but you can see he is 'hairy'. His little belly is sticking out cause I fed him a few small earthworms. Pretty good that he ate so soon after getting him.
Another shot, bad angle makes him look a bit elongated.
The worms came out of the fridge so they did not wiggle much and he still took them. I wonder if I tried some krill on him if he would take it? I think it was pretty much just the falling motion that triggered his eating.

OK, is this normal, I dropped thawed out krill and the little guy ate it. No wiggling food but it was dropped and slowly sinking. I thought I would have quite the battle to get it off live, but maybe not.
