Can I run an internal filter (fluval 2 plus) with crushed coral? The filter doesn't go well with sand because it sucks it up and it will be sitting on the bottom on top of the substrate.

Crushed coral will be more course and heavier than grains of sand, so you may have luck.
You could always strap some filter floss on it to cover the intakes and protect the impeller.

I have a Fluval 3 + with crushed coral and no problem.
Whats the point of a signature?!

Sounds like it should be ok, especially with the filter floss.
