3 year old tank that used to house other fishes (that either moved to other tanks or died), fully cycled
15g
Figure 8 all by himself
First couple of days, fed him pond snails that a LFS gave for free. I squished it first to break the shell before feeding. Also fed thawed krill that I cut into small bite-size pieces, and 3 live red cherry shrimps.
When my small ramshorn snails finally arrived, I switched over to ramshorn snails instead of the pond snails.
Water change once a week... which was only once since I only had him for 1.5 weeks.
Only had Figure 8 for about 1.5 weeks.
Drip acclimation for an hour before adding to tank.
Was active for a week, and always hunting for snails and shrimps.
Last 2 days, not swimming as much, not coming to my hand when dropping snails into the tank for feeding. Not eating.
As I was typing this out, I went back to check on him and he died.
Also just noticed little worm-like (maybe bloodworms), between the colors of dark orange-red to brown, coming out of both of his gills.
Because he died, I went ahead and slowly pulled it out, and it was about 1 cm each.
I never fed him worms for the 1.5 weeks that I've had him, so maybe he was fed bloodworms or blackworms at the LFS, or this a parasite?
Could this have been the cause of death? Really unsure if I should get another F8 or not... because I don't know what killed him.
