Finally i can get some green spotted puffers...how many?

I'm in the process of closing down my tank to reseal it and build a new stand and add a sump, I have a 60 x 20 and 24 high tank, think it comes on around 110 g

Once I have it all up and running I really want green spotted puffers , its going to be species only, and plan to move the fish from fresh water to brackish then to full marine gradually.<br />

I've seen alot of people put tomato or maroon clowns with these fish.....but if that happens it will be 3 years time and under a very watchful eye, can also add a small piece of live rock to make my sand live as it would be a long process but worth it and probably cheaper than buying live sand.<br />

But yeah those are my plans and wondered how many I can for now.<br/>

Hi and welcome. Your tank is around 124 usg gross volume, it will hold considerably less once you allow for displacement. You would be better off setting up as marine straight off and drip acclimating your puffers. Live sand in bags is usually dead. If you are on the south coast near me I could give you some sand from mine. You could house a trio in there, or a different option is 1 gsp and a Ceylon?

I would also suggest going FOWLR from the start. FOWLR and a good skimmer will be a much lower maintenance tank and save non-trivial money over time. If you can add a 24/7 lighted macroalge refugium to the display you will have the best possible set up and reduced total costs w/as good as we get for full lifespan operation. I would also keep it puffers-only.
