Mixing species?

I have a female betta sorority, All 6 are VERY gentle, They are housed in a 20 tall and they have caves and lots of plants and hiding places, heck these girls do not even bother shrimp. I would like to add at least one dwarf puffer to the tank I have TONS of bladder snails and ramshorn.

The dp would nip and attack the female bettas. Especially since the bettas tails are so big. The dp would also attack your shrimp. If you only want 1 dp you're better off buying a seperate 5g tank and keeping it on its own.

I can always just move the bettas over to my community. There are no shrimp in that tank anymore I moved them. Its my most viewable tank so I would really like the dwarfs in it

plus its just a sponge filter

The female bettas will probably do better in their current setup compared to in a community tank. I wouldn't move them to a community tank nor would I add a DP to either tank. I'd give the puffer it's own 5 or 10gal tank. I currently have my DP in a 20gal long that's been divided into 3. The DP has one section with cherry shrimp, one section has a calico BN pleco with shrimp, and the third is empty and has fewer shrimp than the other two sections

My betta girls do well in a community as they have been in one before.

However I do have a 5 gallon and a 10 gallon.

I would defo not put a dp with the females, those fins will be shredded

A certain local old fogy is notorious for not doing mixed tanks. In fact, he does not ever even use the term "community" in the common sense, as most mixed tanks are most assuredly not "communities". I doubt that a tank with frmale betas and a DP could or would ever be a community. IMHO, it is more likely to be a fin-shredding machine. NIMFT.

Well I ordered some plants for the puffer tank I have lots of terra cotta pots, Just waiting for news on when we can get them

About ten years ago I had an ultra-heavily planted 20 gallon female betta sorority tank. Sadly, I saw more homicides in that tank than in my 17 years growing up in Chicago. The tank was a failure.

Everyone here is correct in predicting that the DP's will nom the bettas fins. Best to keep them separate.
