New guy
Hi everyone, I'm Ricky. I'm the proud owner of a Figure 8 puffer fish. I have him in a 55 gal tank that I'm making brackish right now.
Is at 1.002 and I'm shooting for 1.006. Does this sound good? My PH is 7.4 maybe too low? Hope someone can answer this for me.
Anyways is good to be here, I've waited years to own a puffer fish and now that my dream came true I want Panchito to thrive and to live a long happy life. Thanks every one.

Re: New guy
Thanks everyone for the welcome. PP what a great article, thanks for the link. I have gravel in there now, it was a fully established
55gal that I used for freshwater. I was wondering if I can have crushed coral or aragonite in my Aquaclear filters (two 70's) to help with buffering instead of replacing the gravel or is this not enough?
Thank you Infinity8, yeah he's there by himself now but I want 3 bumblebee gobies and maybe 1 knight goby as tank mates.
Maybe a second Figure 8? Would this work?
I actually took a picture of him when I just brought him home, still in the bag. I'll see if I can post it.
Thanks again.

Welcome, sg 1.003-1.005 for a f8, great tank for a puffer. A few bbgs should work
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

Cool bertie, I'm glad the bbgs will be okay, thanks.
Guys you think another Figure 8 will be okay in the 55gal tank?

Re: New guy
He's a cutie!
As for another F8, I'm not sure. I've read from PP's articles that you have to either introduce them to the tank together from the start as juveniles, or they'll fight, but maybe with something as large as a 55...idk.

Re: New guy
Thanks chica.
Yeah if I add another puffer will be in the next few days. When I bought Panchito he was the last one they had at the lfs. They'll have some more soon. I think I'm going to replace the gravel with aragonite in a week or so. Oh man, not looking forward to that! Lot's of gravel.

Re: New guy
You will LOVE the aragonite!! I have PFS in my puffer tank, and I like it so much more than gravel.
Your tank is gorgeous, and your puffer is simply adorable. I wish you the best of luck with a second F8. I have a GSP and often feel sad for him, having to live alone.

Re: New guy
Thank you Cinder, you got me thinking that maybe I don't get a second Figure 8. Just some BBG's.

Re: New guy
Singletons are better human company, they will interact with you more. Please consider your f8 might murder the bbgs so test him with a couple to start with and add lots of sissy caves to stand the best chance. In a tank that size you stand a good chance.

Re: New guy
I would add 2 more, so the aggression isn't 1 on 1. There are lots of other fish you could keep in there, too. Look at a pair of knight gobies.
