SAP puffing up when lights come on

Post by wetmartini »

A few minutes ago I heard the sound of the timer for my lights, glanced over at my SAP tank and noticed that one of the SAPs was completely puffed up. He looked like a small ping pong ball. He almost immediately "deflated" so I didn't have time to take any pics. Although it was a cute sight, I'm a little worried, as I've read that puffing up can be harmful. Normally I'm at work when the lights come on so I've never witnessed this before.

Has anyone else experienced this and is this something I should be very concerned about?

Puffing underwater is completely harmless to a puffer. Puffing with air, can be deadly.
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

Thanks for the reply PP.

Since it was obviously triggered by the lights coming on, I was worried that the puffing could be happening quite a lot. If it's not harmful then I guess there's no need to worry.
