Need help preventing GSP tooth overgrowth
I've had a green spotted puffer for about 9 months or so in a full marine tank. He's been doing well - very active, big white belly, eats a lot as puffers do, etc. The weird thing is I'm actually having trouble finding a way to keep his teeth worn down. I have hermits in the tank, as well as a variety of snails in all kinds of shapes and sizes but he never has shown any interest in them or gone on a killing spree like the average GSP would. I've tried to feed him freshwater pond snails where frozen food normally is poured in and he just doesn't go after them. What else could I try? I'd rather not have to play dentist for him if possible...

Clams, crab legs are some alternatives.

Did you try crushing them first, then try feeding whole ones? Some puffers don't seem to put the effort into cracking open snails until they've learned what goodies await behind those bothersome shells!

Hold of aseveral days and then feed him snails. I bet he'd get the idea. And like Freak said, crush the first few.
